At Santosha all of our classes are rooted in the SATTVA yoga tradition.
SATTVA yoga was developed in the Himalayas of northern India and follows the Yog-Vedantic and Yog-Tantric traditions and technology. SATTVA yoga is a holistic, integrated yoga practice which includes all aspects of the yogic teachings. The entire being is considered, body, mind and soul. Our yoga classes may include any combination of asana (postures), pranayama (breathwork), meditation, kriya, mantra and/or meditation.
A therapeutic level of heat may be added to some classes to allow for greater ease in stretching the tissue.
Kriya & Kundalini
This practice is designed to create awareness of the bodies energy (prana) and develop the ablility to work with it through kriya, breath-work, movement, and mantra.
Increasing the body's ability to contain energy boosts the immune system. It also activates dormant and underused parts of the brain, and releases buildup of old/trapped energy from the energy centers creating balance. Kundalini techniques are as brought forth from the tradition of the northern Himalayas in India.

SATTVA-60 Integrated Flow
This class is a play of movement and stillness. Postures are linked together and performed at a slower pace to allow for a deeper awareness of the posture. Movement, pranayama (breathwork), kriya and meditation are combined to create a holistic experience.

Slow Flow & Yin
This class experience is a play of movement and stillness. This class will instill a sense of ease -even when there is effort. Ideas of "easy or difficult" begin to dissolve as we move through postures, allow for the breath to flow, and find dynamic stillness. All levels are welcome. Good for beginners who want to slow down a "monkey mind" and restless body.
This class is an experience of Shiva and Shakti -the fierce divine feminine and masculine energies that reside in each one of us. This class will bring balance of these energies through asana (postures), pranayama (breath work) and kriya.

Heated Asana Practice
This class is an asana (posture) focused class that loosely uses the framework of the 26n2 Asana Practice. Music is added, some of the postures flow one to the next, and posture variation options are added. This class is an integrated practice and additional pranayama (breathwork) and/or kriya may be added.

SATTVA Himalayan Breathwork Practice
Our breath contains prana (life-force/energy). The more we practice to expand and master prana, the more we benefit on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.
Breathing as a practice becomes an exploration of these benefits and how we can heal ourselves.
This 45min minute class provides detailed instruction on various yogic breathing and breath-kriya techniques as brought forth from the Himalayan/Yog-Vedantic tradition.
The benefits of intentional breathing techniques are vast: Strenghthen and balance the energy centers, energizing all areas of the brain, releasing old neuro pathway connections and creating new ones, create a stronger, healthier central nervous system, boosts the immune system, heightened awareness, increases our Connection and intuition, relieves symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD and cultivates a deep sense of peace.
An adaptation of the original hot series. This class is therapeutically heated, and is good for all levels. The focus is on asana (postures) and this class is designed to help create mental discipline through concentrated attention.and can help create a strong connection to the body/mind. No music.
